gLastFM, a Last.fm widget for WordPress

Description

gLastFM is a Last.fm widget for your WordPress blog.

This plugin let bloggers display a nice “Last.fm widget” that shows the recent, loved or favorite tracks scrobbled by Last.fm.
It differs from Lastfm-covers, from which it is based, on the following points:

  • Better Last.fm error handling (no longer have PHP errors in case of failure)
  • Use cached data if Last.fm data is unavailable
  • Do not use JavaScript
  • Display the tracks as a list
  • Clicking a track cover or title will redirect you to the track’s Last.fm page
  • Different pictures (see the ‘license’ file in the theme directory)
  • Clicking on the title of the widget will take you to the user’s Last.fm page
  • Code cleaning
  • Corrected some translations
  • Use of unique names for functions and global variables to avoid conflicts
  • Respect WordPress coding standards better

OK, I don’t get why this plugin requests an API. I don’t have an API. I don’t want to develop soemthing with last.fm. That’s why I’m looking for a plugin.

    • Hi Eric,

The API key is used to access the Last.fm services. While it is true that I could use my API key and never ask you to get one, Last.fm could revoke my API key in case it is used “too much” (by too much people, in same time) to protect their service from denial of service attacks.

That’s why I prefer that each blog request its own API key.

By the way, getting an API key is quick and simple, so I don’t really see the problem in getting one 😉

      Best regards

    Hi,
great plugin. Using it for 2 years now.
But now I switched to a new server with identical configuration. And now I have this realy strange error where the plugin is not showing anymore. It works on the old server. Using the latest version. The plugin is not even showing in the source code. Do you have any ideas?
    regards

    вот еще крутой виджет http://lastwidget.com/

    Seen Alive Widget
    The tool is here: http://lastwidget.com/

Many users like a list of artists they have seen alive to be added to their last.fm sidebar.

This widget allows you to display it in nice-looking way, with artists’ images, genres and ratings.

You can also automatically sort the artists by popularity or in alphabetical order.
