Why not use the Windows Seven icon and animate it with a user-selectable color (so if they change theme colors ;)) for your http://www.gabsoftware.com/products/applications/gabnetstats/ ? And incorporate all the menus from the Windows 7 one? Then we could disable (turn system icon off for it) the network icon and just use yours. πŸ˜€

  2. Hi Yuji,

I think that Windows Seven doesn’t have such icon, so I cannot use it. However I think that Vista came with an updated icon.

Theming is planned for a next version πŸ˜‰

As for the menu, I don’t know which menu in particular do you speak about.

    Regards

    Gabriel,
Thanks to your guide I finally got Gnome installed on OpenBSD. I figured out where my mistake was πŸ™‚ Thank you soo soo soo much for taking your time and explaining things without all the elitist attitude other people use.
I do have one other question regarding OpenBSD. The current FreeBSD emulation package is woefully out of date and for use on i386 systems. Would it be possible to replace the old FreeBSD system files used in the package – with updated 64 bit system files and run FreeBSD emulation without having to tweak the configuration files much ?
Thank you again sir for all your help. I look forward to seeing your response πŸ™‚

Hi I followed this link to contact you about the gLastFM plugin for WordPress, which I’ve just started using and it works very well – THANK YOU. Some suggestions for you to make the plugin more user customisable… or better (IMHO).

    1. Lose the CD border on the album images. CDs don’t look like that anymore and it’s unnecessary and out-of-date looking (but not retro cool). Just the simple album art would look better.
    2. Similarly – if Last FM doesn’t have the artwork, don’t put that “blank CD” graphic. It looks nasty on the sidebar of my blog, especially if I have been listening to a bunch of obscure stuff in a row. It would be cool if the user could select their own graphic for artwork “missies”, or if you just used something more neutral.

That’s it – otherwise love the plug-in and would be happy to donate if some more development is done.

Thanks for listening to my points.

    what can i do

    • Hi there,

You probably have PHP 4. Counterize requires PHP 5 to run, and so does WordPress 3.3, the required version to run the last version of Counterize.

I will make it more clear in the readme.txt file and the Counterize homepage that Counterize requires PHP 5.

If you can’t upgrade to PHP 5, I suggest that you reinstall the previous version of Counterize (Counterize II), which is not supported by the way.

  6. Reza says:

Hello, and thanks for this plugin, I have a question:

    – if this plugin doesn’t press server. because I’m using shared server, not dedicated.

    • Hi Reza,
What do you mean by press server?
I’m using Counterize on shared hosting myself and never had a problem. Of course my websites are not so famous so the audience is limited, but I think you can give it a try.

  7. Jeromy says:

Hi, I noticed that counterize installed many addional plugins last update. The list of plugins only by this plugins enlarged my plugin list for more than 1/2. ^^
But I got an important issue: Counterize is making reloads to the blogs header everytime clicking another menu title. This even happens sometimes when I’m logged in as admin. Is there a known workaround that the header is not loading everytime a visitor is cklickung on the menu?
I tried to remove some java-codes from the function.php and the css working in the header. But it made no effect… Only if I deactivate counterize the blog behaves without refreshing header if clicked on menu items….

    • Hi Jeromy,

What do you mean by “Counterize is making reloads to the blogs header everytime clicking another menu title”? Maybe you could illustrate the problem with a screenshot so that I can understand the problem better πŸ™‚

  8. Jeromy says:

The menu and the header reloads or refreshes if you’re click another menutitle. Just deactivate counterize and you will see, that you’Re the headmenu and the whole header is not reloading when you’re navigating through your blog: Only the mainframe will load the content, the menu and the header image not…

    Mailed it to you

  10. Incomica says:

Hello, I’ve update Counterize with the last versio. But I have a problem now. The TODAY parameters are getting in “0” after 8PM…
    Could you please help me?

    • Hi Incomica,

It’s a known problem. Counterize currently use the server local time and do not take the user timezone preference into account.

This issue is to be addressed sooner or later, with a high priority.

Thank you for your interest in Counterize! πŸ™‚

Hi, I wonder if you could help, I Logged onto my website, (link removed) to find:-

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter – headers already sent (output started at /home/gdmobuzh/sexylookingabs.com/index.php:1) in /home/gdmobuzh/sexylookingabs.com/wp-content/plugins/counterize/counterize.php on line 16

Is this and easy fix that I could do? (I don’t know about coding) or can you rectify the fault for me please.
    Ver:3.3.1
    Thanks

    Gilroy

    • Hi Gilroy,

Can you try to replace line 14 of counterize.php:

      if( ! isset( $_SESSION ) )

      with:

      if( ! isset( $_SESSION ) && ! headers_sent() )

And then tell me if you see any improvements?

      Thanks πŸ™‚

  12. Gilroy says:

    Hi Gabriel,

    That Fix worked fine.
    Thank you very much πŸ˜€

Thank you for your tool and answer.

How come my most referrer in the last 24 hours when i check their website doesn’t have a back link back to my website? How can they be referring people to my website when there is not any back links to my website?

    • Hi Stephen,

      It’s possible by many ways:
      * The website is a kind of search engine, the latest searched terms appear on the website, and someone searched something related to your website
      * The website has a bot that send fake referer requests to your website in order to improve its visibility in trackers such as Alexa, Xiti, Google Analytics…
      * Probably many other ways… As long as an HTTP request to your website has the HTTP_REFERER header set, you will see a referer in Counterize. Faking a HTTP_REFERER is easy and bots and search engines use it a lot.

  15. Ahrale says:

    Hi Gabriel,
    Thank you for the plugin.
I had translated it to Hebrew & sent to the mail the .po + .mo files,
about 3 weeks ago, but received no answer.
I just want to make sure that you receceived my mail & translation files.
    Thanks

    • Hi Ahrale,

Yes I received the files, thank you very much πŸ™‚ I haven’t replied yet because I am in the process to move from China to France, and haven’t got much time for Counterize lately. Your translation will be in the next release of Counterize and you will be credited properly as the author of the translation. Thank you for your interest in Counterize πŸ™‚

Can I post the stats provided by counterize on my website so my visitors can see them?

  18. Mark Thomasson says:

I like the Counterize plugin very much, but was recently disappointed to find that upgrading my WordPress version to the current 3.5 version shows it to be incompatible with Counterize.
Numerous missing arguments are found throughout the captured data fields. Clearing the database removes the warnings until the first new data is captured. Removing the plugin and reinstalling has the same results.
Any chance there will be a new update soon? I hate having to deinstall this application, but it doesn’t do any good if errors are common.

There is advice here: http://make.wordpress.org/core/2012/12/12/php-warning-missing-argument-2-for-wpdb-prepare/ on updating your plugin to eradicate the problem described.

You need to change your IP referencing from relying purely on REMOTE_ADDR, it’s not always found there.

    $ip = (isset($_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR'])
      &&
    strlen($_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR']) > 4) ?
    $_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR'] : $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];

Most seen referers for the last 24 hours β€ͺ(0)‬
    Most seen refering domains β€ͺ(0)‬
Most seen refering domains for the last 24 hours β€ͺ(0)‬
    Any idea?
